British conductor Alexander Soddy is one of the most sought-after conductors of his generation and is a regular guest with leading orchestras and opera houses worldwide.
In the 2025/26 season, Soddy returns to several of Europe's most prestigious stages for significant new productions. At Teatro alla Scala, he continues his close collaboration, conducting Così fan tutte as well as the conclusion of the highly acclaimed new Ring cycle with Siegfried, Götterdämmerung, and the complete cycle. At the Vienna State Opera, he takes on Elektra, Der Rosenkavalier, and Raskatov's Animal Farm. Further re-engagements lead him to the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, and the Staatsoper Unter den Linden with Samson et Dalila, as well as to the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino with Macbeth.In the concert arena, Soddy will make his debut this season with the NHK Symphony Orchestra as part of the Tokyo Spring Festival, where he will conduct a concert performance of The Flying Dutchman. He returns to the Vienna Symphony for concerts at the Musikverein and an international tour, debuts with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, and makes another guest appearance with the Orchestra dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome. In the summer of 2025, he made his debut at the Seiji Ozawa Matsumoto Festival with the Saito Kinen Orchestra.In recent seasons, several projects have marked significant artistic milestones, including the world premiere of Kirill Serebrennikov's production of Lohengrin at the Opéra national de Paris, Das Rheingold and Die Walküre as the opening of the new Ring cycle at La Scala, his debut at the Concertgebouw with the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra in Mahler's Fifth Symphony, and a re-engagement with the Philharmonia Orchestra with Capriccio at the Edinburgh International Festival.Soddy is a regular guest at leading opera houses in German-speaking countries. At the Vienna State Opera, his conducting has included the Vienna premiere of Raskatov's Animal Farm , as well as Otello , Elektra , Hansel and Gretel , Carmen , The Magic Flute , Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk , Salome , The Barbiere di Siviglia , and Parsifal .
